Story behind:
This set is named after So, which stands for african elephant. The African elephant is the world's largest
largest land mammal in the world. This herbivore is characterized by its thick skin its thick skin, enormous head and huge, fan-shaped ears, elongated tusks, a flexible trunk. Among the representations of animals associated with the idea of power and leadership, those of the elephant occupies an important place.
In Kom, tattooing and scarification were meant for the royal women. When these women were putting scarification or tattoos of royal symbols (like the So), people could see that the woman was from the palace, and they should not attempt to vie for her attention.
These women chose their lovers themselves. Once the girl had seen her first potential lover, it was time for the tattoo specialist to perform the art. According to the Kom, this was to bestow on her a special status among commoners and also served as a warning to men who intended asking her hand in marriage.
