This bubu is made from Indigo prints fabric, also known as Batik is a traditional fabric from West Africa (Mali...). Indigo is handstitched resist fabric, tie dyed with indigotier tree leaves.
The bubu is named after Dikalo. Dikalo means message in Duala/Sawa language from Cameroon. In various African culture (Sawa, Grassphields...) when a message needs to be shared to the community, a messenger walks in the streets, with a bell that he rings.
